Ahead of the India vs Pakistan encounter in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, Shahid Afridi has yet again hit the headlines for his controversial comments on the former Indian cricketers. The hype around an India vs Pakistan match is always intense, and the upcoming Asia Cup 2025 clash is no different.
Political tensions between India and Pakistan are still high after the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor, with many questioning whether the match should even take place. Adding fuel to the fire, Shahid Afridi made comments that angered Indians, including Yograj Singh, once again.

The former Pakistan captain recalled the recent abandoned India vs Pakistan game during the 2025 World Championship of Legends 2025 (WCL 2025) in Edgbaston. That match was cancelled after several Indian icons, including Shikhar Dhawan, Harbhajan Singh, and Irfan Pathan, opted out of the game due to the outrage following the terror attack in Pahalgam in April 2025.

Slamming these players for their move, as some of them are now commentating in the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, the legendary all-rounder called Shikhar Dhawan a “bad egg” and even took a veiled dig at Irfan Pathan by saying a few players are still trying to prove they are the Indians.
When Yograj Singh, father of the legendary Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, who was leading the India Champions in the WCL 2025, was asked to comment on Shahid Afridi’s recent controversial remarks, he made a bit of a surprising statement while slamming the former Pakistan all-rounder.

The former Indian cricketer slammed Afridi for his controversial remarks and stressed that words are powerful and should be spoken thoughtfully. He also felt that politics should be kept away from the game, warning against unnecessary comments that only create divisions.
Shockingly, Yograj also said that both Indians and Pakistanis are the same to him. The coach said that he sees no difference between Indians and Pakistanis when it comes to humanity, talent, and values.

Yograj Singh said on Cricket Next: “The tongue is a very powerful thing, so speak with care and measure your words. Always speak the truth and have the courage to do so. Where something is wrong, call it wrong, and where someone has done something good, acknowledge it. These are all my own people. So, keep those issues out of the game. Don’t get involved in matters of politics or power. Why comment unnecessarily? Just don’t.”

He was a bad egg: Shahid Afridi targets Shikhar Dhawan
Recently, Afridi had said on Samaa TV, “If I take any names, they will be in trouble. The player I referred to as a bad egg, his captain also told him, ‘If you don’t want to play, then don’t. Just don’t post on social media.’ But the player had come with some purpose. That is why he was a bad egg.”
The former Pakistani cricketer added, “There are several issues. People threaten to burn down their houses. There are certain players who are still trying to prove they are Indian. They have been doing this ever since being born. Now they are doing commentary in the Asia Cup.”
