Yorkshire Rope In Ottis Gibson As New Head Coach

English county club Yorkshire has roped in former West Indies cricketer Ottis Gibson has their next head coach on a three-year deal. The club confirmed his appointment after parting ways with former coach Andrew Gale on charges of racism. Gibson has coached England, Bangladesh South Africa and West Indies in the past.
Ottis Gibson, who was Bangladesh’s bowling coach recently denied renewing his contract for a spell in the Pakistan Super League. He will join the Multan Sultans and then will take as Yorkshire head coach by the end of February. Gibson will report to interim managing director Darren Gough.

“I’m extremely honoured and excited to be given the opportunity to join Yorkshire County Cricket Club as Head Coach. This is one of the most prestigious roles in English County Cricket, and I am really looking forward to working with this talented group of players to take the club forward. I’ve spoken at length with Goughy about the direction the club is heading in and I’m excited to be a part of that future,” Gibson said following his appointment.
Darren Gough also shared his thoughts on Gibson’s appointment. He said that he is one of the best coaches going around and welcomed him into the team.

“Ottis is one of the best coaches in the world and will be a fantastic addition. His knowledge, commitment, experience and cricket know-how will be vital for us as we move into pre-season and get ourselves up and running. We were absolutely blown away by the level of interest and quality of candidates for this role, but I have no doubt that he’s the best person for the job and will pick up the challenge with relish,” said Gough.
Gibson will have the overall responsibility of monitoring the performance of the team and the management. He will be supported by two assistant coaches who will be appointed shortly. He has played two Tests and 15 ODIs for West Indies taking a total of 37 wickets in his international career.
