Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi lavished praise over his former teammate Shoaib Akhtar and called him a match-winner for Pakistan during their playing days.

Akhtar, who is called the ‘Rawalpindi Express’ for his explorable speed, had clocked 161.3 kph against England during a 2003 World Cup fixture. It has been a decade since the Rawalpindi-born pacer took retirement from international cricket but his extraordinary record remains intact.

“I’ve played across eras, I’ve seen many fast bowlers, but Shoaib Akhtar’s strength, his bravery has wrecked the batsmen over. The batsmen used to be under so much pressure while facing him. He was a match-winner and he has achieved great things for Pakistan,” Afridi added.

Akhtar also owns a YouTube channel on which he airs his opinions in a straightforward manner and has been speaking on many important matters related to the world of cricket. He has more than 3 million subscribers on his channel and regularly uploads videos on it.

Akhtar played three matches for Asia Lions under Misbah-ul-Haq’s captaincy in the Legends League Cricket and picked two wickets as they ended runners-up to World Giants, who won by 25 runs in the final. In November 2021, Akhtar said he would undergo a total knee replacement in Melbourne.
