You Never Know These 10 Points Might Come Back To Bite Us: Tamim Iqbal After Bangladesh's 97-Run Defeat In The 3rd ODI

Despite having won their maiden bilateral series against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh skipper Tamim Iqbal has lamented the fact that his side couldn’t achieve 30 ICC ODI Super League points that were up for grabs.
Bangladesh, who had wrapped up the three-match series by comprehensively winning the first two ODIs, was handed a 97-run mauling by Sri Lanka in the final match.
Teaming the performance as “disappointing”, Tamim Iqbal reckoned that Bangladesh might live to rue the ten points that they have dropped by losing the final ODI.
>”It is disappointing. It is not like bilateral series that you win two matches, win the series and there is nothing more to achieve. Every match is important. You never know these 10 points might come back to bite us. We should have grabbed full points as there was an opportunity,” said Tamim Iqbal.
Sri Lanka’s consolation win was set up by their skilled Kusal Perera, who stroked a brilliant hundred to help his team post an eventual winning total of 286.
However, Perera of at least three dropped chances by Bangladesh fielders, something Tamim pointed out in the post-match interview.
“We did not bat as per our expectations. The bowling was good while the fielding was good in the opening two games but today it (fielding) was like we were back in the same, bad place. We failed to hold important catches,” said Tamim Iqbal as quoted by CricBuzz.
“If we forget everything thinking we have won the series, it won’t take us anywhere. I think we have a lot of areas to work and improve,” Tamim said.
The southpaw used inappropriate language as he headed back to the pavilion and he has now been reprimanded by the ICC for a ‘Code of Conduct breach. The Bangladesh skipper has been handed a 15 percent fine on his match fee plus one demerit point.
