Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali didn't go easy on India pacer Mohammed Shami for his comments on Inzamam-ul-Haq. He said that the fast bowler's choice of words wasn't right as he always uses indecent words when things were asked about the Pakistan cricketer.

India fast bowler Mohammed Shami hasn't been kind to the former Pakistan cricketers. During the ICC World Cup 2023 when some of the ex-cricketers from the country questioned his bowling, he gave a thrashing reply to time and didn't take a step back.

Mohammed Shami during the ICC World Cup 2023 was accused of using a modified ball with a chip embedded in it. And in the recently concluded T20 World Cup 2024, Inzamam-ul-Haq came up with another allegation against the India National Cricket Team pacer Arshdeep Singh.

Inzamam-ul-Haq accused India of ball tampering, highlighting how Arshdeep Singh's ball was getting a reverse swing in the 15th over. Mohammed Shami responded to this as well, calling such claims "cartoonish" and accusing Inzamam of attempting to deceive the public.

With Mohammed Shami giving blunt replies to Inzamam-ul-Haq, Basit Ali didn't go easy on the India pacer. He said that the fast bowler's words were not tight as Inzamam has been captain of the Pakistan team and he should learn to respect seniors. Speaking in a video posted on his YouTube channel, he explained:

"When Shami talks about Inzi bhai and calls him a cartoon, that's not right. Inzamam has led this country and captained it. Shami, your choice of words isn't good. We praise your bowling, but you should have chosen your words better. You didn't pick your words well, and that hurt me,"

"If you think Inzi bhai said something wrong, say it nicely. Don't call him a cartoon and all that. Have some respect. He's a senior. You should respect your seniors. If you don't, cricket will make you cry 300 days out of 365 and only make you happy for 65 days. So, please don't do that it's a personal request."

Your elders probably never taught you this - Basit Ali on Mohammed Shami

Basit Ali further lashed out at Mohammed Shami, saying that his elders didn't teach him how to respect seniors. He elaborated:

"Whatever question is asked, you keep giving 'behuda' (indecent) answers. I'm using the right word, 'behuda (indecent). Aapne behuda zabaan use kiya hai (You've used indecent language). Your elders probably never taught you this."

Mohammed Shami underwent an Achilles Tendon surgery earlier this year. The fast bowler hasn't played any cricket since the ICC World Cup 2023. He was the leading wicket-taker in the tournament and helped India reach the final. After the tournament, he missed a lot of cricket including the Indian Premier League and the T20 World Cup 2024. The fast bowler has resumed bowling at the National Cricket Academy and is likely to make a return through the Bangladesh Test series, set to be played at home later this year.
