Former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja was highly impressed by James Anderson’s subdued celebration after a five-wicket haul and wanted the youngsters to learn from him. James Anderson who is approaching the end of a marvellous career for England in Tests picked up another fifer in the second Test against India at Lord’s.
Anderson who is 39 now, has still been the best bowler among the lot and has swung it both ways. He picked up the big wickets of Rohit Sharma, Pujara, and Rahane apart from the tailenders and was the only positive limelight from the England bowling attack. He is the highest wicket-taker in Tests of all time among the fast bowlers.
Ramiz Raja Feels Anderson’s Subdued Celebration Is A Lesson For Youngsters
Ramiz Raja felt that James Anderson has shown the ideal path for the youngsters to celebrate after a wicket and he noted that Anderson does not salute or puts a finger on his lips. He added that the enjoyment after a wicket should have some grace. Mohammad Siraj is one of the young bowlers who put a finger on his lips after taking a wicket.
“There is no extravagant celebration when James Anderson picks up a wicket. The celebration after picking up a wicket should be a bit subdued. You have won the battle. Anderson doesn’t put a finger on his lips and nor does he salute.
So, this is a lesson for the youngsters as to how to become a champion bowler. Your enjoyment should be graceful after picking up a wicket,” Ramiz Raja opined.
Ramiz Raja Hails James Anderson For Being A Champion Bowler
Ramiz Raja hinted that Anderson has picked up more than 350 wickets after 30 years of age which is itself a great achievement and he added that the right arm seamer is a role model for the upcoming bowlers. He also recalled the fact of James Anderson having a bowling end named after him which is something extraordinary.
“This is not the first time Anderson has picked up five wickets. He has picked up about 350 wickets after the age of thirty. He is a great role model for youngsters.
“If you look back at his career, he had just one goal and that was to become a champion bowler. Anderson chose the most difficult format to be a champion. If there is a bowling end on your name while you are playing, then that is the icing on the cake,” Ramiz Raja concluded.
