Legendary Indian cricketer Sachin Tendulkar praised veteran England pacer Stuart Broad, who recently announced his retirement from international cricket. He expressed that the wicket on his last ball in Test cricket was a fitting end to his cricket journey.

Australia began Day 5 of the fifth Ashes Test at the Oval in London with a score of 135. However, the visitors couldn’t complete the run chase as they were bowled out for 334 runs in their second innings. Stuart Broad took the last two wickets to help England register the level of the series.

“A phenomenal career draws to a close. @StuartBroad8, your relentless spells and unwavering dedication will forever be etched in cricket’s annals. A fitting end to your career. Enjoy the next innings!” Tendulkar tweeted.

Broad played in 167 Tests for England during his 16-year career. The right-arm pacer picked up 604 wickets in red-ball cricket, making him the second-leading wicket-taker among pacers behind James Anderson. Overall, he was the fifth-leading wicket-taker in Test cricket.

Tribute To The Beauty Of Test Cricket – Sachin Tendulkar

Sachin Tendulkar lauded the Ben Stokes-led team for making a bounce back to level the series, despite trailing 2-0 after the first two games.

“From being 2-0 down to drawing level, England’s tenacity in this #Ashes series is a tribute to the beauty of Test cricket. The ability to rebound demonstrates the depth of character and the mental fortitude this format demands. Mother Nature might have denied us a series result, but that didn’t dampen the spirit of this incredible game. A series to remember for a long long time.”

Australia won the first two Tests of the five-match series but missed the chance to secure their first Test series win in red-ball cricket on English soil since 2001. The hosts showed great fighting spirit and came close to winning the series 3-2, but the fourth Test ended in a draw due to rain.
