Yuvraj Singh on verge of high-profile coaching role with Delhi Capitals for IPL 2025

Former India National Cricket Team all-rounder Yuvraj Singh might acquire the coaching role in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. As per the reports in Sportstar, it is learned that Delhi Capitals (DC) have approached the 2011 World Cup winner for the role.

Delhi Capitals are very keen to bring Yuvraj Singh on the board. The franchise has struggled to get going in the last few seasons, and with them also releasing Ricky Ponting as the head coach, there might be a possibility that the former Indian all-rounder might come in as the head coach.

Yuvraj Singh no longer in contention to be Gujarat Titans head coach

Earlier, there were reports that Yuvraj Singh is in talks with Gujarat Titans to take over the head coach position. This comes after it was learned that Ashish Nehra will part ways with the franchise. However, now it is learned that Nehra will continue in the role and the franchise is in talks with former India cricketers to fill in for Gary Kirsten, who is now the head coach of Pakistan.

Yuvraj Singh was a great servant for the Indian National Cricket Team. His contribution to the team was sensational and he was one of the main reasons behind the team winning the T20 World Cup 2007 and the ICC World Cup 2011, where he was awarded the Player of the Tournament.

Yuvraj Singh, who has featured in 40 Tests, 304 ODIs, and 58 T20Is, hasn't had coaching experience but has helped a lot of young players including Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill, and others. He recently also expressed his desire to coach the team once his kids grow up.

Yuvraj Singh joining Delhi Capitals will be a massive boost for the team as his experience will be handy for the franchise. He also has played for the team in the league and would want to help the team succeed.

Delhi Capitals parted ways with Ricky Ponting because they wanted an Indian coach in the setup who could give time to the team. He came on board in 2018 and under him team played their ever final in 2021 but they failed to win the title. However, he wasn't retained as Delhi Capitals owners reportedly weren’t happy with his performances.

The reports suggested that Delhi Capitals want to change their entire coaching set-up ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Sourav Ganguly will be the director of cricket for the franchise and they want some new faces to take over the coaching role in the team.

There were rumours that Delhi Capitals might give Sourav Ganguly a double role. But there is the possibility that the franchise may eventually hand over the coaching responsibility to someone else while Ganguly will look after the overall operations.

The franchise also is in talks with Paras Mhambrey for the next edition of the tournament. It was learned that the franchise is keen to have an Indian name as the bowling coach in the league. He had great success as a coach for the India National Cricket Team.
