Legendary India National Cricket Team all-rounder Yuvraj Singh has become the latest cricketer to share his views on the Virat Kohli vs Joe Root debate.

Kohli and Root are two of the modern-day greats, and they have done a tremendous job for their teams for over a decade. The duo are part of the batting Fab Four, which also has the likes of Steve Smith and Kane Williamson.

Kohli has dominated across all three formats of the game while the best of Root has come in the longest format of the game. Joe Root is currently in the form of his life and he is going through a purple patch in Test cricket.

The English batter has become the leading century-maker for the England National Cricket Team and has his eyes set on Sachin Tendulkar's record for most Test runs by a batter in the history of cricket.

Virat Kohli, on the other hand, has not been at his very best in recent times. However, he currently has 80 centuries to his name across formats and he is the closest to Sachin Tendulkar's 100 tons record.

The comparisons have often been made between Joe Root and Virat Kohli, with some experts rating the English batter superior to Kohli while the others calling the Indian batter the best.

Yuvraj Singh has now joined the bandwagon and has shared his views on the matter. During an interaction on the Club Prairie Fire YouTube podcast, Yuvraj Singh was asked to pick between Joe Root and Virat Kohli.

The legendary all-rounder responded by saying that he would pick Root over Kohli only for English conditions, while the Indian batter would be his preference across formats in different conditions. He elaborated:

"It's a tough one. Joe Root is obviously breaking records but where you are playing also matters. If you are playing in England, obviously, you'll pick Joe Root, but if you are playing all over the world, I would pick Virat Kohli because, on certain wickets, he can do a lot of damage. On form right now, definitely Joe Root but if you look at all formats, definitely Virat Kohli"

Yuvraj Singh was also asked to name his picks between Rohit Sharma, MS Dhoni, and Virat Kohli for the 'Play, Bench and Sell' game. The former all-rounder was clear in his thoughts as he picked Rohit Sharma to play because of his batting as well as leadership abilities.

"I would go for Rohit Sharma to start if it's T20 cricket. As a player, someone who can change the game with his batting and an outstanding captain so Rohit Sharma would be my first choice," said Yuvraj.

However, Yuvraj Singh denied naming the players he would bench or sell. He reasoned:

"If I take anybody to be on the bench (between Dhoni and Kohli), it's going to be a headline tomorrow."
