Ishan Kishan eyes return to International Cricket after eventful year

He was initially selected for the Indian squad for the South Africa Test series but withdrew due to mental fatigue. Ishan’s last T20I appearance for India was back in November last year.

Following his exclusion from the BCCI’s central contract list, Kishan made a comeback to competitive cricket by representing the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in the 18th DY Patil T20 Cup 2024.

Subsequently, the Indian wicketkeeper played for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL 2024, scoring a total of 320 runs in 14 matches at an average of 22.86 and an impressive strike rate of 148.84.

However, he was not picked for the T20 World Cup 2024 or the Zimbabwe tour. Well, Ishan can be recalled to the Indian team for the upcoming three-match T20I and three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka, with the BCCI expecting to announce the squads soon. He has also recently started preparations for the upcoming season.

He shared a video on his Instagram showing how he is sharpening his skills at the nets. Despite still being in the early phase of his career, Kishan has already achieved significant milestones, as he holds the record for the fastest ODI double-century.
