Legendary fast bowler Zaheer Khan has lauded India's bowling attack for their excellent performance in the first Test against Bangladesh at Chennai. Zaheer Khan gave full marks to India's bowlers for their contributions throughout the match.

All the Indian fast bowlers were amongst the wickets in this Test as they played key roles whenever the captain Rohit Sharma wanted them to. The fast bowlers. led by Jasprit Bumrah, led the way in the first innings. Bumrah himself picked up four wickets while Siraj and Akash Deep also chipped in with two wickets each.

If it were the fast bowlers in the first innings, the spinners played their roles to perfection in the second innings. Ravichandran Ashwin led the way with a six-wicket haul on his home ground while Ravindra Jadeja finished with 3-58. Jadeja picked up five wickets in the match.

During a segment on Cricbuzz, Zaheer Khan was asked about India's overall bowling performance in the Test match. The former India quick reckoned that Indian bowlers were exceptional despite having a lesser advantage during the first innings as compared to Bangladesh.

"If you look at the overall bowling performance, it has been brilliant. When you were bowling in the first innings (of Bangladesh), you didn't have that much advantage. The maximum advantage had been taken by Bangladesh by winning the toss and fielding first," Zaheer Khan said.

The 45-year-old, who is also the mentor of Lucknow Super Giants, also mentioned that both the fast bowlers and the spinners put their hands up whenever they were needed and it was a complete bowling performance from them.

"You needed to show aggression after a good first innings total and (Jasprit) Bumrah, (Mohammed) Siraj, and Akash Deep showed that. In the second innings, Ashwin and Jadeja contributed when there was assistance for spinners," Zaheer Khan noted.

"Overall, I feel this bowling attack deserves all the marks for their performance," Zaheer Khan added.

India's fast bowlers and spinners show their mettle at home

In the first innings, the fast bowlers were getting some seam movement and bounce from the track and Indian pacers used that to great effect. Jasprit Bumrah was exceptional and even unplayable at times. Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep gave him good company with wickets at important intervals.

Akash Deep picked up two wickets in two balls by shattering the stumps of Zakir Hasan and Mominul Haque. Both Siraj and Akash Deep picked up 2 wickets each in the match.

Meanwhile, it was time for India's legendary spin duo of Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja in the second innings to show their magic in the second innings. Overall, it was a brilliant start to the Test season for India and skipper Rohit Sharma will be pleased with this performance.
