The final moments of Day 3 in the ongoing third Test between India and England at Lord’s have taken the entire cricket world by storm, and the drama spilled off the field too, where Michael Vaughan made some surprising comments over the dramatic scenes.
Dinesh Karthik has blamed England’s openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley for the early delay, pointing to time-wasting tactics that had already irked the Indian cricket team at Lord’s. Karthik suggested the drama began even before a ball was bowled to England on Day 3.

However, Michael Vaughan did not agree with the former Indian wicketkeeper-batter and commentator. The former England captain defended the hosts in his trademark cheeky style, and that too surprisingly pointed fingers at the Indian team for the whole chaos on Day 3 at Lord’s.

Vaughan blamed the long walk from the dressing room, the legendary Lord’s members, and tired legs after a full day in the field for the delay on Day 3 of the ongoing Lord's Test.
The commentator even mentioned how Shubman Gill caused the delay on Day 2, so he felt it was unfair to criticize England for killing time intentionally.
Shubman Gill had seven minutes having a back massage: Michael Vaughan
Michael Vaughan said on Cricbuzz, “It's a long walk from the England dressing room. Don't even say that. Yeah, it's a long walk. You've got to go down the step. There are members that you have to go by, and I reckon they got in the way. The members got in the way, so they had to maneuver around the members.
Then there are more steps to go down. They've had a long day in the field, so they're going to walk a bit slowly. Legs are tired. They were absolutely in their right to just be a little bit late out in the middle. Shubman Gill had seven minutes having a back massage yesterday. I mean, come on, both teams are delaying all the time.”
Michael Vaughan raises alarm over Zak Crawley’s painful blow at Lord's
The Englishman was also concerned for Zak Crawley, who had taken a nasty blow on the hand during the final over on Day 3 off Jasprit Bumrah’s bowling. Vaughan hinted that Crawley’s injury might be serious but hopes the opener will be fine to bat on Day 4 against India at Lord’s.
Vaughan signed off by saying, “I just hope Zak Crawley finds a bat on day four. He took that brutal blow. It was a brutal blow to the hand. You're not even mentioning Zak Crawley's finger. His hand could be broken.”
Shoaib Bashir's injury worries England camp
Meanwhile, English spinner Shoaib Bashir is being closely monitored after hurting the little finger on his left hand at Lord’s. The medical staff is keeping an eye on his condition. However, Bashir is expected to bowl in India’s second innings if needed.
However, a final call on whether the young spinner will come out to bat in the hosts' second innings will be made later based on how he feels. His availability for the fourth Test at Emirates Old Trafford will also be decided after the Lord’s Test against India.
