The Afghanistan side is led by Hashmatullah Shahidi. He has plenty of experienced players in his side to lean on. They won the first ODI by 60 runs with Shahidi scoring 88 and Rahmat Shah scoring 94. With the ball, Mohammad Nabi picked up four wickets and Rashid Khan two as they took six wickets together to rattle Zimbabwe. The onus will be again on these experienced players to take them over the line and help the side win another ODI series.

The side is being led by Craig Ervine. Zimbabwe were no match for the Afghanistan side that played the first ODI. They were bowled out for 216 chasing 277 to win as none of their top-order batters scored a fifty. Sikandar Raza scored a valiant 67 batting at number five but there was no contribution from any of the other batters which would help them win the game. A loss for the hosts in the second ODI would mean another series loss against Afghanistan.
