Zimbabwe face Afghanistan in the second ODI at Harare on June 6. This is a must-win game for the side after they went down in the first ODI. The African nation is trailing in the series at the moment and will need to play out of their skin to get back into the tournament.

The side is being led by Craig Ervine who did not have a good game in the first ODI. Both sides will play a three-match T20I series after the end of the ODIs. For now, however, their focus is on winning the second T20I. In this article, we predict Zimbabwe’s predicted playing XI for the second ODI against Afghanistan.

Regis is one of the most experienced players in the current Zimbabwe squad having played over 50 ODIs. He scored just one in his previous game and would like to contribute more substantially.

Skipper Ervine scored 30 in the first ODI which was not enough for his side to win the game. Being the captain of the side he would like to bat with more responsibility and lead by example. Ervine has played over 100 ODIs.

In a crucial game, Wesley scored just 11 off 21 deliveries in the middle-order which took away all the momentum. He would like to come up with a better performance in this crucial encounter for his side.

Raza scored a valiant 67 but that was not enough to see his side home. He needs to come up with another good score if his team is to go over the line.

Milton Shumba

Shubman is another middle-order batsman in the current Zimbabwean setup. He scored just five off 12 balls and needs to come up with a better effort in the second ODI.

Ryan Burl

Burl is a product of Zimbabwean U-19 cricket. He is one of the most talented cricketers in the current national side. Burl scored an unlucky 13 in the first ODI. He will be expected to do a lot more in the second ODI.

Donald Tiripano

Tiripano scored just 5 with the bat and went for 26 with the ball in his spell. An experienced bowler, he will need to come good in this must-win game for his side.

Muzarbani was signed up as a net bowler by Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL recently. He made his country proud by becoming the first Zimbabwean from the current side to get a maiden IPL call-up. Back to playing international cricket, he picked four wickets in the first ODI against Afghanistan.

Luke Jongwe

Luke can be a replacement for one of the seamers in the playing XI. He has played 28 ODIs and picked 33 wickets so far.

Tendai Chatara

The experienced Chatara was expensive in the first ODI. However, with 77 matches under his belt, he should be counted upon to make a comeback in the second ODI. This concludes Zimbabwe’s predicted playing XI.
