The 34-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman Regis Chakabva has been appointed as the skipper of the Zimbabwe National Cricket Team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against the Bangladesh National Cricket Team, confirmed Zimbabwe Cricket on Thursday, August 4.
On Thursday Zimbabwe Cricket announced a 15-member squad for the ODI series against Bangladesh. The three-match ODI series will be played on August 5, August 7 and August 10 in Harare.
Chakabva has been given the responsibility to lead the side in the absence of regular skipper Craig Ervine, who has been given a break by the cricket board to recover from his recent niggles.
Also, the 35-year-old batting all-rounder Sean Williams has not been included in the ODI squad for the series as he has been given time off to attend the personal matters.
Meanwhile, Takudzwanashe Kaitano and Tarisai Musakanda have been named as the replacement for Ervine and Williams in the ODI squad.
Other than that there have been no major changes made to the squad and the players who participated in the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh National Cricket Team have been included in the squad.
Notably, Zimbabwe National Cricket Team won the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh National Cricket Team by 2-1. The Craig Ervine-led side won the first game by 17 and the series decider, the third T20I, by 10 runs to clinch the series.
