Zimbabwe Announce 15-Man Squad For Australia ODI Series
Zimbabwe confirmed its squad for the 3-match ODI series against Australia starting on August 28. Blessing Muzarabani is set to return after missing out on the series against India.
Muzarabani is the leading pacer in the side and was ruled out of the 3-match ODI series against India due to a thigh muscle tear. He has passed his fitness tests and will leave for Townsville on Tuesday.
The 15-man squad will be led by Regis Chakabva. Regular skipper, Craig Ervine, continues to be sidelined due to a hamstring injury. Apart from him, the injury list includes Tendai Chatara with a collarbone fracture, left-arm spinner Wellington Masakadza with a shoulder tendon injury, and opening batter Milton Shumba with a quadriceps injury.
The tour was scheduled to be held back in August 2020 but was postponed due to the covid-19 pandemic. Zimbabwe is set to tour Australia for the very first time since the 2015 ODI World Cup.
The 3-match ODI series will be played in Townsville on August 28, 31, and September 3. Two traveling reserves in Tanaka Chivanga and John Masara have been named as well.
