Zimbabwe will take on South Africa in the second of the two-match Test series. This article provides details about Zimbabwe's Playing 11 vs South Africa for the second match of the series.
Zimbabwe Playing 11 vs South Africa- 2nd Test, South Africa tour of Zimbabwe 2025:
Openers: Brian Bennett, Takudzwanashe Kaitano
The hosts will open the batting with Brian Benett and Takudzwanashe Kaitano as they did in the first game of the series against South Africa
Bennett, who got off to a quick start in the last match, had to leave the field after getting hit on the helmet.
Zimbabwe would hope for Bennett to be fit and available for the do-or-die game scheduled to start on Sunday (July 6).
Kaitano, on the other hand, would look to put on an improved performance in the upcoming game as he wasn't able to make a significant contribution in the first match.
The duo would like to set a solid platform for the incoming batters to capitalize on it and guide the team to a fighting total.
Having said that the openers will be very of the form of the South African bowling lineup which includes the likes of Corbin Bosch and Codie Yusuf both of whom bowled well in the first match.
Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Craig Ervine (c), Sean Williams, Nicholas Welch, Tafadzwa Tsiga (wk), Wessly Madhevere
The opening pair will be followed by two experienced batters in the form of captain Craig Ervine and Sean Williams, both of whom will have to take the responsibility and score the bulk of the runs for the team.
Zimbabwe would be satisfied by the way Sean Williams held one end and scored a fine century.
The batter ensured that the home team was able to avoid the follow-on by stitching small but valuable partnerships with the lower-order batters.
The hosts would also wish for their top seven batters to help the team cross the 300-run mark and for the last four batters to give them much-needed support.
Bowlers: Vincent Masekesa, Wellington Masakadza, Blessing Muzarabani, Tanaka Chivanga
The rainbow nation is expected to go with an unchanged playing XI, which would mean that the onus of the team's bowling department would be on the fast bowlers to pick early wickets.
The home team would take confidence from the fact that the new ball bowlers did their job by reducing South Africa to 55/4 in the first innings.
Although Zimbabwe was not able to sustain the pressure once the ball got a bit old, they would wish to replicate the performance they delivered in the last match in both innings of the game.
As far as the team's spin bowling department is concerned, it would be handled by Wellington Masakadza and Vincent Masekesa.
All things said, it would be interesting to see how the pitch plays as it had some uneven bounce during the first Test.
