Zimbabwe’s qualification for the T20 World Cup this year has resulted in a very busy schedule for the team over the next two months.
Zimbabwe are preparing to host India and Bangladesh before departing for Australia for the first time in 18 years.
India will travel to Zimbabwe for a three-ODI trip starting on August 18 and ending on August 22. The last time the Indian Team visited Zimbabwe was in 2016. A part of the ICC ODI Super League, which determines the hosts and seven direct qualifiers for the 50-over World Cup in India set for 2023, is the series.
Zimbabwe are now ranked 12th out of a total of 13 teams, having only earned three victories in 15 games. Less than a week before the 2022 Asia Cup, which will take place in the UAE from August 27 to September 11, the ODI series is slated to come to an end. Before the world cup, Zimbabwe will have the chance to explore Australia to become familiar with the country’s climate and sports fields.
Zimbabwe and Australia are set to play three ODIs
From August 28 to September 3, Townsville will host three one-day international matches between Zimbabwe and Australia. Since 2003–2004, they have not toured Australia, and their most recent ODI encounter took place in a tri-series in 2014, just before the 2015 World Cup. Bangladesh will play Zimbabwe in three T20Is from July 30 to August 2, then three ODIs on August 5, 7, and 10. Each match will take place in Harare. Zimbabwe will welcome the Indian team after the series.
Zimbabwe won the eight-team qualifying match earlier this week in Bulawayo, guaranteeing them a spot in the 2022 T20 World Cup. In the title game, Sikandar Raza returned 4 for 8 as they defeated the Netherlands by 37 runs.
