Zimbabwe vs Bangladesh 2021, 1st Test: Zimbabwe's Predicted XI

Zimbabwe plays host to Bangladesh for the first time since 2013 in a full-fledged series comprising of a Test match and three ODIs and as many T20Is. Zimbabwe lost to Bangladesh when the teams faced off last in 2020. Heading into this series, they lost against Pakistan 2-0 in a Test series. The side lost to Bangladesh in 2020 when the two sides played their previous Test series. In 17 games, the two sides have won seven Tests each with three draws.

The side has four new faces in the Test squad that has been announced for the one-off Test. In this article, we take a look at Zimbabwe’s predicted XI for the same.

Kevin Kasuza

Kevin played both the Test matches against Pakistan and scored 54 runs in the series. In five Test matches for his side, he just has one fifty-plus score. This particular Test allows him to get his maiden Test ton. He is expected to open the series.

Craig Ervine

Brother of Sean Ervine, the Zimbabwean skipper for the one-off Test, can partner Kasuza for the Test match. He was not a part of the side that played the two Test matches against Pakistan.

Regis Chakabva

Chakava was a part of the side that played against Pakistan. He top-scored for the side with 146 runs from two Test matches. Once again the hopes of the African nation will be on his shoulders. He will also be the wicketkeeper for the side.

Brendan Taylor

Taylor with 33 Test caps is the most experienced player in the Zimbabwe team. He retired from international cricket but then made a comeback in 2017 and since then has been a crucial part of the team.

Sean Williams

A veteran of 136 ODIs, Sean Williams has played only 14 Tests for the side. His last Test was against Afghanistan in the UAE. The Aghna side won the series 2-0 against the African nation.

Donald Tiripano

Tiripano took four wickets in the series against Pakistan. He also played in the series against Afghanistan that the side lost 2-0. He is a proper all-rounder as well with a best of 95 in the format.

Tendai Chatara

Chatara is back in the national squad after three years. In the meantime, he has performed in domestic cricket and has also played for Zimbabwe-A side.

Blessing Muzarabani

The youngster is one of the most promising cricketers in the national team. He has played five Tets matches so far and did play the two against Pakistan and took seven wickets.

Tendai Chisoro

Chisoro is three matches old in his Test career. He can use this Test match against Bangladesh to make a mark on his national team. He played the series against Pakistan taking three wickets in the two games that he played.

Richard Ngarava

Ngarava also took two wickets three wickets in the two games that he played against Pakistan. He is another young talent for Zimbabwe having just made his Test debut for the side.

Luke Jongwe

Luke Jongwe completes the playing Xi which Zimbabwe is most likely to field against Bangladesh in the one-off Test between July 7-11.
