Zimbabwe vs South Africa head-to-head in Test cricket
Zimbabwe will be playing against South Africa in the red-ball format after seven years. Last time, Chevrons toured South Africa for a one-off Test match in 2017-18.
Zimbabwe and South Africa have played only six Test match series against each other in cricket history. The last time both nations played a two-Test match series was in 2004-05. At that time, South Africa also toured Zimbabwe.
Chevrons never won a Test match against South Africa, and they have also never been able to draw a Test match against the Proteas.
Will the Zimbabwe tour be included in the South Africa WTC 2025-27 fixture?
When the ICC changed the points system in the World Test Championship, every Test series importance increased, and now South Africa is touring Zimbabwe just after the WTC 2025 final. It’s a big question if South Africa’s tour is included in the WTC 2025-27 cycle.
The answer is no, Chevrons' tour will not reward or deduct any points to South Africa in the WTC 2025-27 table. ICC has already announced the fixture for South Africa as they will play three home Test series and three away Test series in the cycle of 2025-27.
South Africa will face Australia, England, and Bangladesh in their home series. The Proteas will tour India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. They have an Asian tour in the upcoming WTC cycle.
