100 Jammu & Kashmir Cricketers Including Irfan Pathan Asked To Leave - Reports

100 Jammu & Kashmir cricketers including India all-rounder Irfan Pathan have been asked to leave the state as soon as possible amidst the growing tension in the valley. The Indian advisory committee issued a notice stating the rising unrest. Soon after that, the Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has asked their members along with backroom staffs and cricketers to go back to their respective homes.

Pathan including 100 Kashmir cricketers asked to leave
Irfan Pathan is currently Kashmir ahead of the start of another domestic season. The veteran all-rounder represents the state as a player cum mentor. Pathan, along with coach Milap Mewada and trainer Sudarshan VP and the selectors, who are not from the state, are likely to leave on Sunday. This will be a massive blow to Jammu & Kashmir side ahead of the start of the new domestic season.

The domestic season gets underway on August 17 with the Duleep Trophy. Vijay Hazare Trophy will be played next post which the Ranji Trophy season will begin from December 09.
“Yes, the JKCA has advised Pathan and other support staff to leave J&K. They will fly out of the Valley on Sunday. Selectors, who are not from the region, have also been asked to leave for their respective places,” JKCA chief executive officer (CEO) Syed Ashiq Hussain Bukhari said.

Furthermore, JKCA has also decided to scrap off the training sessions involving players of different age groups. The state association has suspended cricketing activities for now and will wait for the situation to get clearer before making a decision. They were planning to arrange a few practice games before the start of the season at the Sher-i-Kashmir stadium in Srinagar which stands cancelled as of now.
“We’ve already sent 101-102 Jammu players, who were camping at Sher-i-Kashmir stadium, back. The situation is tense and even we are not sure what’s going to happen, so we postponed cricketing activities and decided to wait for the right time to restart it,” Bukhari concluded.
