After the 2007 T20 World Cup, India clinched the 2011 World Cup under the captaincy of MS Dhoni and later went on to grab the 2013 Champions Trophy.
Pathan was adjudged the man of the match for his prolific performance in the 2007 T20 World Cup. He picked up three wickets in the final against arch-rivals Pakistan which included Shoaib Malik, Shahid Afridi and Yasir Arafat. He was also unbeaten on three runs in the final.
The final match went to the wire with Pakistan chasing the target of 158 runs. Former India captain MS Dhoni took a momentous decision to hand the last over to Joginder Sharma and it worked in favour of the national team as S Sreesanth took the catch of Misbah-ul-Haq and to help the national team seal the trophy by five runs.
