22 Bookies Arrested In Cricket Betting In Delhi

Yet again, the Bookies were caught to the policemen in Delhi. This time, as many as 22 bookies were arrested in cricket betting in Delhi. The policemen seized seven lakh rupees cash and mobile phone when the raid took place. They were operating them in a private building.

According to the police, the racket was busted on October 4 in Old Gupta Colony, New Delhi. An FIR has been registered in this matter under Delhi Public Gambling Act. The policemen rushed to the spot when they received information through the anonymous call. They also found gambling cards during the raid.

Raid took place in the afternoon –

According to police, information was received that one Rakesh Jain was using the first floor of his Subzi Mandi residence in north Delhi for betting on cricket matches and gambling. The accused was also charging Rs 50 per person as entry fee to his house.

“On receiving secret information on October 4, Model Town Police Station formed a team which conducted raid at the Old Gupta Colony here at around 1:30 am. During the raid, 22 bookies were arrested red-handed while gambling with the playing cards,” Police said as per ANI.

”The organizer and the main accused, Ashreet Singh was found previously involved in online betting during the second one day International Cricket Match between India and Australia,” said police in a statement. Three sets of playing cards and Rs 7,23,500 in cash were seized during the raid. This racket was found active a few days ago,” Police added.

Of late, the betting in the game of cricket has become an often scenario. Though the various rackets are being busted across the country, somewhere the other, it is kept on being in progress.

Recently, regarding the same, the retired justice quoted that the Indian government should start legalizing the betting, which will help the police department to serve better.
