After a prolix musical chair game for the number four slot in the Indian National Cricket Team, it was Ambati Rayudu, who emerged as the final winner. But, unfortunately, he isn’t delivering the goods, which was expected from him in the overseas tours. Can we rely our trust on him in the major event like ICC World Cup 2019? Well, we don’t think so and for the same, we figured out 4 reasons on why he is unfit for the team in the grand event.

Here are they:

1. Inconsistency:

One of the major flaws of Ambati Rayudu is his inconsistency. One can’t completely rely their trust on him, as he isn’t the regular contributor of runs for the Indian National Cricket Team. He has been splendid for India in the home conditions but failed to repeat the same for the team in overseas games.

He was a failure in the first tw0 ODI games against Australia, which eventually, pushed the team management to make him sit out for the final series decider. Even in New Zealand, he looked pretty rusty in the middle, despite scoring runs.

Rayudu failed to score runs at a good rate when Dhawan and Rohit gave a perfect platform in the second ODI. It was in the very same game, where Kedar Jadhav and MS Dhoni knocked at a brilliant strike rate. In a tournament like ICC World Cup, the middle-order consistency will make a major impact.

2. Inexperience in playing overseas:

Well, yet another major issue is his inexperience in playing overseas. He isn’t a part of the Test squad throughout his career to spend time in overseas and hasn’t got much limited over games under his belt in overseas tours.

It certainly made an effect on his game in the Australian ODI games and also looked rusty while scoring runs against Kiwis. With England being more suitable for the fast bowlers, it would be really tough to rely on Ambati Rayudu, who got the habit of throwing his bat on the ball.

He has left with only one game under his kitty ahead of the grand event, as far as overseas ODI games are concerned. His performance in the next ODI will confirm a lot of things about his place in the ICC World Cup 2019.

3. Rash Strokes:

Something which haunted Ambati Rayudu right through his career has been his rash strokes. Whenever he was all looked set for a big tally to his name, he goes for an unwanted shot and ends up throwing his wicket away for the team.

It was clearly evident in his last few games, especially, in the Australian and Kiwis tour. If you look at his recent game against Kiwis in the 4th ODI at Hamilton, he has thrown his wicket away, especially, when the team is reeling.

Rayudu had a burden of looking after the scorecard with Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni staying away from playing XI. But, he came to the middle and straightaway went for a big stroke, which saw him walking back for a duck to his name and also left the team in big trouble.

4. Talented Cricketers are waiting for their chances:

When Ambati Rayudu is wasting his chances to prove his worth, then, there are cricketers, who are sweating it out for their chances in the Indian team. The players like Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant are waiting to get back into the Indian fold with a lot of dedication and determination.

Shreyas Iyer has been the consistent run-scorer for the team while Manish Pandey proved his worth in the domestic circuit. Even the likes of Hanuma Vihari and Mayank Agarwal are pressing their case stronger.

Hanuma Vihari can offer stability in the middle order and already a proven performer with the ball. The experienced Suresh Raina, who got a decent record in England might also get a look in for the major event.

I just love what I script. Over the years, Cricket has been my passion and crisping articles on it gives me an immense pleasure...Cheers...!!!
