5 Deserving Players Who Missed Out From India’s Squad For West Indies Series; The Indian selectors sprung a few surprises with their squad announcement for West Indies series. Surprisingly, this time, most of the squad, which appears in ODI format of the game will head into T20I series as well unless any forced injuries during the course of the series.

After giving a chance to a few players in the series against Bangladesh, the Indian selectors once again changed the complexion of the team for the series against West Indies. Meanwhile, we have figured out 5 deserving cricketers, who missed out from India’s squad against West Indies. Have a look…

So near yet so far…!!! The all-rounder from Karnataka, Krishnappa Gowtham’s name was on the table of the Indian selectors during their meeting to pick the squad for the West Indies series. However, unfortunately, he ended up on the wrong side of things for obvious reasons. Krishnappa Gowtham is an emerging off-spinner and explosive lower-order batsman from Karnataka.

Recently, Krishnappa Gowtham playing for Bellary Tuskers in KPL 2019, scored 134 not out off just 56 balls and also accomplished the bowling figures of 4-0-15-8. And later, displayed similar kind of performances for the Karnataka team in the domestic tournaments to put his name forward. He would have been a brilliant addition to the Indian team in the T20I format.

4. Rahul Chahar:

He is one of those guys who deserves to stay in the Indian team. The flamboyant cricketer has developed wicket-taking skills but couldn’t find a spot in the playing XI in the last few games despite travelling with the squad. With Yuzvedra Chahal back in the squad, selectors were harsh on Rahul Chahar.

So far, he played only one game for India, in which, he picked up the wicket of former West Indies’ skipper Carlos Brathwaite. Digging out his IPL numbers, Rahul Chahar has been brilliant for his side, having picked 15 wickets at a brilliant economy of 6.78.

3. Dinesh Karthik:

Used to be the finisher of India, especially, when MS Dhoni is away from the game. The knock he played in Sri Lanka against Bangladesh is still fresh in the heart of the fans. Surprisingly, the board selectors are keeping him away from the T20I format. He was ignored for the tour to West Indies followed by the home series against South Africa and Bangladesh.

Now, once again, selectors have given him a cold shoulder. Karthik was part of the ICC World Cup 2019 squad and played only one game where he failed to leave an impact. Perhaps, they want to make a move away from him but the talent of Dinesh Karthik is being wasted in search of something exceptional.

With Rishabh Pant failing to make things fall in place, Dinesh Karthik can deliver the goods for the team under pressure, especially, in the shorter format of the game. Currently, he is part of Tamil Nadu team in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2019 and wants to show his calibre in upcoming IPL edition.

2. Mayank Agarwal:

One of the in-form players to stay away from the team is Mayank Agarwal. In fact, he is yet to get his maiden cap in limited-overs cricket. With the kind of form he is in Test cricket, one would have expected his call-up to the Indian team. But, unfortunately, it wasn’t the case. Though he is being looked as the Test specialist, Mayank Agarwal carries exceptional track record in list A cricket.

Digging out his stats, Mayank Agarwal scored 3869 runs in his 79 appearances in List A Matches. During the course of those scintillating performances, Mayank Agarwal managed to maintain an average of 50.90, which include 13 centuries and 15 half-centuries.

Perhaps, the board doesn’t want to disturb his flow in the Test format of the game. However, the right-handed batsman of Karnataka can be a great addition to the team across the formats. His hunger to score runs and being consistent will soon fetch him a slot in the Indian team.

1. Sanju Samson:

It is tough to be in Sanju Samson shoes at the moment. The Kerala cricketer has done everything to be part of the Indian team but unfortunately, something or the other kept on denying his place in the team. His exclusion from the T20I side stunned the Indian fans, as they were eagerly waiting to see him smash those beautiful strokes wearing the Indian Jersey.

Surprisingly, he missed out his place to Rishabh Pant, who scored just 33 runs in 3 games against Bangladesh. Sanju Samson came to limelight with his stellar performances in the Indian Premier League for Rajasthan Royals in 2013. The 24-year old remains the youngest batsman to score 1000 runs in the IPL.

Recently, he made headlines in the newspapers for his incredible double century against Goa in Vijay Hazare Trophy. Earlier, he smashed a brilliant 91-run knock against South Africa, which certainly pressed his case for the selection to the national team.
