5 Famous Indian Players who Never Scored an IPL Hundred

The India National Cricket Team have had many poster boys over the years. Be it Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Yuvraj Singh or even MS Dhoni; these stalwarts had a significant impact on the Indian Cricket. Meanwhile, the Indian Premier League (IPL) had cut its share of creating an effect on the world cricket as well. The most lucrative T20 league in the world has unearthed many local talents including that of Yusuf Pathan and Manish Pandey. However, there have been some massive names in the Indian cricket who didn’t achieve the feat of scoring a hundred in an IPL. Here are a few names –

• Dinesh Karthik

The modern-day finisher of the game, and one of team India’s dependable batsman, Dinesh Karthik hasn’t scored a hundred in the IPL. The right-hander has played in all seasons of the Indian Premier League but hasn’t ticked the three-digit box yet. Considering he has credentials to prove himself as a match-winner in the game, Karthik’s highest score has been 86 in the IPL.

• Gautam Gambhir

One of the best openers the country has seen in over a decade, Gautam Gambhir falls in this list. The ex-Delhi Capitals captain and the two-time IPL winner with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR); Gambhir didn’t score a single century in 11 seasons of IPL. Though the batsman had produced many batting performances worth calling excellent, he didn’t complete a three-digit number despite batting at the top of the order. His highest score is 93 in the IPL.

• Yuvraj Singh

One of the greatest match-winners the game has seen, Yuvraj Singh is yet to score a hundred in IPL as well. Touted amongst the best middle-order players for many years, Yuvi never came close on scoring a hundred for an IPL franchise. Though he, over the years, had scored many centuries in ODIs; the left-handed batsman managed to hit 83 as his highest score in 11 seasons of the league. Since he is active in the T20 league, who knows by the time he hangs his boots, Yuvraj could score a hundred.

• Shikhar Dhawan

Surprised? I was too. The most enthralling and exciting opening batsman on his day, Shikhar Dhawan hasn’t scored a hundred in the IPL. Knowing he had opened the innings throughout his career; also looking at his numbers at the international stage, Dhawan should be all but out of this list. Unfortunately, not as of now. However, with the forthcoming season of the IPL 2019 about to begin, the left-handed batsman could break the duck and score an IPL hundred. Meanwhile, 95* is Dhawan’s highest score in IPL.

• MS Dhoni

Wasn’t it obvious? Yes, he is the most celebrated Indian captain and perhaps the joint most successful one in the IPL too; MS Dhoni hasn’t put his hands on each of the accolades. Agreeing he bats lower down the order, but over the 11 seasons of the IPL, he has come up the order when he could have made it big with his bat. However, it never happened, as Dhoni is also among those who haven’t scored an IPL hundred. Although 79* is his highest, MS still has it in his tank to clock a hundred in the IPL.
