Well, with the ICC World Cup 2019 around the corner, the series against Australia may not be a good idea to hand debuts. But, looking from the other point of view, it is the best chance available to look after the backups for the certain players, as you never know when injuries might haunt a player. Meanwhile, we figured out 5 players, who might get the nod for the ODI series against Australia.

Here are they:

5. Mayank Markande:

The star player came into the limelight when Mumbai Indians gave him the cap in IPL 2018. Mayank delivered instantly by knocking the wickets of major players. He repeated the show in the Ranji circuit to claim his spot in the India A side across the formats.

Being a leg spinner, he has got the great chances to make his debut for India. With Yuzvendra Chahal being regular in the side, the presence of Mayank can be a good backup option for Chahal in a case of any injuries.

Perhaps, the series against Australia would be a good trial for Mayank Markande to show his skills. He recently delivered things against England Lions in 5-match unofficial ODI series.

Another exciting talent in the Indian domestic circuit, who is pressing his case for the place in the Indian team. He has been the consistent run-scorer for his side over the years but always went unnoticed, as India got the settled batting lineup at the top-order.

Meanwhile, his recent scores in the Ranji Trophy and Irani cup would tempt the Indian selectors to test him out. If Shikhar or Rohit Sharma takes a rest for the series against Australia, he might be preferred to exhibit his skills at the international level.

3. Navdeep Saini:

The lanky fast bowler is doing all the required stuff for the selectors to pick him in the squad. He impressed one and all with his spells in various tours for India A and also the force to reckon with in the domestic circuit of the game.

Initially, he was expected to make it to the Indian side for UK tour but, the good recovery from Jasprit Bumrah dented his chances to get the national call-up. However, Navdeep Saini should be eagerly waiting with a phone in his hand.

With Mohammed Siraj and Khaleel Ahmed failing on a consistent basis, they might try to check one more fast bowler from the pool. He got tremendous experience playing in the format for India A.

2. Mayank Agarwal:

Well, Mayank Agarwal is one of the deserving candidates to receive the call-up for the Indian National Cricket Team in ODI format of the game. He got the required numbers under his kitty and been the consistent run-scorer for the team in the domestic circuit.

He was always among the run-scorers while playing for India A as well. Recently, he made his debut for India in Test cricket and performed exceptionally well to help India win the maiden Test series in Australia against Australia. If one of Shikhar Dhawan or Rohit Sharma is rested, Mayank Agarwal can get the nod.

1. Hanuma Vihari:

Yes, you might be surprised to see his name. But, you won’t get an inch of a doubt if you follow his progress in the domestic circuit. Hanuma Vihari is the most reliable all-rounder in the domestic circuit, who can play any role in the Top 5. He got the knack of rotating the strike with ease and can look after those middle overs.

Apart from his batting, Vihari can be quite useful with his off-spin in the bowing section as well. Most probably, the Indian National Selectors might give a look at him in the series against Australia. Vihari already showed his worth in the Test format of the game.
