The trend of awarding the person present in the stand who takes a one-handed catch is all set to continue in this season of IPL as well.
Amitabh Choudhary, the acting Secretary of BCCI, announced that the fan who will take a one-handed catch in the crowd will be given Rs 1 Lakh as a reward.
Apart from that, one fan who will take the most popular catch of the season will drive home an SUV, the acting secretary further said.
“We are excited to continue our partnership with TATA Motors and have their newly launched SUV, Harrier, as the Official Partner of the IPL, 2019. Harrier will also continue with the very popular Harrier Fan Catch where fans are rewarded Rs 1 lakh for taking a single-handed catch of a six. One lucky fan who wins the most popular Harrier Fan Catch of the season will drive the luxury SUV home,” Amitabh Choudhary said.
The trend to award the fan who takes a one-handed catch in IPL started last year. Earlier, it was a trend that was followed in New Zealand.
The fans have to register themselves in the competition and have to wear an orange colour t-shirt.
Whoever catches the ball with one hand gets a reward.
The competition, however, now seems to have closed as people with their orange t-shirts on were not seen during the India-New Zealand series that was played in the month of January and February.
In IPL, though, the trend is set to continue and in fact, the winner of the catch of the season will also drive home a car.

Meanwhile, the eleventh season of IPL will kick off on March 23 with defending champions Chennai Super Kings taking on Virat Kohli-led Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening game of the season.
As per the trend, the winner and runner-up teams of the previous season take on each other but this year this isn’t the case due to elections.
It also saw BCCI announcing the schedule of the first two weeks of IPL only.
The schedule of rest of the league will be announced later.
Due to elections, some teams might not also play seven home games while some of the teams might play an extra game or two at home.
All this will be confirmed when BCCI will announce the schedule of remainder of the season.
The final of the league will be played on May 12.
