Royal Challengers Bangalore Virat Kohli has called for wide balls to be reviewed. The India skipper’s comment comes just a day after the controversy on the wide delivery during the clash between Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad in the ongoing IPL 2020.

In the 19th over of SRH innings, Shardul Thakur had bowled a wide yorker to Rashid Khan. Umpire Paul Reiffel looked set to call it a wide as he had his hands half out. However, he changed his mind at the last moment after seeing an angry MS Dhoni protesting and decided against calling it a wide. MS Dhoni was indeed acting in an animated manner and it perhaps played a part in the umpire’s decision.

Replays later showed that the ball was indeed over the tramline and it should have been called a wide delivery. And just a day after the controversy, Virat Kohli has said that the teams should be given the option of reviewing wide deliveries as well as waist high full-tosses.

Virat Kohli proposed his ideas during a conversation with Kings XI Punjab skipper and his India teammate KL Rahul for a promotional event. Rahul agreed with Kohli’s suggestion too, saying that the teams should have two reviews for ‘whatever they want’.

“As a captain, I would like to have the ability to review a wide which could be a wrong call or a waist high full-toss which could be a wrong call because we have seen historically, how big these small things can be in such a high-profile tournament such as IPL and in general T20 cricket,” said Virat Kohli while answering to the question – ‘one rule he would like to change in T20 cricket’.

Agreeing with him, Rahul said: “If that rules comes it, it’s very good. You give teams two reviews and say, you can use it for whatever you want.”
