Deepak Chahar truly marked his arrival in international cricket on Sunday with his sensational bowling against Bangladesh. The right-arm pacer starred with the ball, picking up 6 for just 7 runs as India beat Bangladesh by 30 runs to win the series. The spell also included a hat-trick as Chahar rewrote history books.

He became the first Indian to pick up a hat-trick in the shortest format of the game. He now also holds the record of best bowling figures in men’s T20Is. Chahar broke the record of Ajantha Mendis who had the figures of 6 for 8 runs. He gave India a solid start with the ball as the hosts were looking to defend 174 on a good batting track.

In his very first over of the match, he dismissed Liton Das and Soumya Sarkar in consecutive deliveries to dent the visitors. Skipper Rohit Sharma then pulled the pacer out of attack for the business end of the match.

And with Chahar not bowling, Mohammad Naim and Mohammad Mithun put Bangladesh on the front foot with a 98-run stand. With nothing working out, Rohit recalled Chahar and he made an immediate impact by dismissing Mithun. After his first two overs, Chahar’s figures read an astonishing 2-0-3-3. Shivam Dube then accounted for Mushfiqur Rahim, Naim and Afif Hossain to all but seal the game.

Chahar went on to make the game memorable by taking the last three wickets on as many balls. He dismissed Shafiul Islam on the final ball of the 18th over before dismissing Mustafizur Rahman and Aminul Islam on the first two balls of the 20th over to complete the hat-trick.

Well, the world might have witnessed Chahar’s talent in recent months but former India cricket Aakash Chopra knew that the pacer had potential when he saw him way back in 2010. After Chahar’s impressive spell, an old tweet from Chopra is going viral where he said that he had spotted a young talent named Chahar. He also said that everyone will see a lot of Chahar in the future.
