Commentator Aakash Chopra has opposed to Sachin Tendulkar on his stance about the Decision Review System (DRS). Sachin Tendulkar said that he does not agrees with ICC on the DRS method which says that the ball should be hitting 50 percent of a stump during the ball-tracking segment.

Tendulkar believes even the ball his hitting the stump marginally the decision should be ruled in favour of the fielding side. He also added the players should go upstairs only if they are not happy with the on-field umpire’s decision. “One thing I don’t agree with, with the ICC, is the DRS they have been using for quite some time. It is the LBW decision where more than 50 per cent of the ball must be hitting the stumps for the on-field decision to be overturned,” Sachin Tendulkar said in a 100MB video.

“The only reason they (the batsman or the bowler) have gone upstairs is that they are unhappy with the on-field decision, so when the decision goes to the third umpire, let the technology take over, just like in tennis, it’s either in or out, there’s nothing in between,” he added.

However Aakash Chopra differed in his opinion and said, “In principle it makes sense as once it is reviewed, why would you want to go back to the umpire. I am with you Paaji that once you have embraced technology, you should trust it and don’t do other things. Totally correct

“Here I have a difference of opinion with Paaji. When we are talking about the ball hitting the stumps, that is the projection that we see, we don’t see it in black and white,” Aakash Chopra said in a YouTube episode of Aakash Vani.

In DRS, the umpire’s call gives the benefit of doubt to the primary decision taken by the on-field umpire. The DRS rules it as umpire’s call when the ball tracker shows that the delivery has not hit at least 50 per cent of the stumps.
