Former India batsman Aakash Chopra recently took to Twitter to reveal his picks for the best batsman, bowler, allrounder and wicketkeeper in T20Is of the last decade. The ex-cricketer-turned-commentator has been a very popular man on Twitter since hanging up his boots.
An ace commentator, Aakash Chopra is adored by fans for his opinions. However, on the New Year’s Day, one of his opinions did not go down well with the fans. Aakash Chopra took to Twitter to reveal his best picks for the decade, calling Virat Kohli, Lasith Malinga, Shahid Afridi and Jos Buttler as the best T20I batsman, bowler, allrounder and wicketkeeper of the decade respectively.

And while most of the fans agreed with him on his picks for batsman, bowler and wicketkeeper, the pick for the allrounder did not impress many. Shahid Afridi is regarded as one of the finest limited-overs allrounders to have played the game. While consistency was always his nemesis, there was no denying the fact that he was more than capable of blowing away any team on his day.

In the last decade, the former Pakistan captain played a total of 73 T20Is. He picked up an impressive 61 wickets while scoring nearly 1000 runs. One should also mention that just a few months before the start of the last decade, he had played an integral role in Pakistan’s victorious campaign at the 2009 T20 World Cup.

But the fans were not impressed with Aakash Chopra’s pick and did not shy away from critising him. And one of those fans went as far as saying that Aakash Chopra picked Afridi in the team only to impress Pakistani fans.
“Explain us why u choose afridi….for impressing Pakistani fans?,” wrote the fan.

Aakash Chopra did notice the tweet and ensured that he replies to it. But instead of using strong words, the former cricketer subtly shut down the fan, writing:
“You obviously didn’t have a look at his T20 International record in 2010s. The decade. Do yourself a favour and check. Thank me later ☺️?”
