AB de Villiers once again displayed why he is an absolute freak during his massacre of the Kolkata Knight Riders bowling-unit in Sharjah on Monday.

On a track where almost every batsman struggled with his timing, AB de Villiers looked like he was batting on a completely different strip as he smashed a 23-ball 50- an innings which included five fours and six sixes.

With Virat Kohli struggling for his timing at the other end, AB de Villiers teed off in the last five overs to help RCB smash 83 runs in the last 30 balls. AB finished at a gobsmacking 33-ball 73, an innings which not left his millions of fans awestruck but also the surprised the great man himself.

”Very happy with the performance. Got a duck in the last game, a terrible feeling. Very happy that I contributed. Surprised myself out there tonight. Knew the wicket was quite tough to bat on. But I thought 145-150 wasn’t enough. So I looked to go further and was surprised to get 195. They’ve got a really good bowling attack. The margins are small and you have to use every bit of energy. As Virat said there was a light in my eye, felt it in the bus itself,” AB de Villiers said in the post-match presentation.

AB de Villiers taking up the gloves this season has proved to be a blessing in disguise for RCB as it has allowed them to play an extra overseas fast bowling option. And, AB is completely enjoying his role as a wicketkeeper.

”Always enjoyed taking the gloves. Very excited about it, I must say. I do bounce off ideas with Virat. As a keeper you have a really good view of the pace of the game. Different skills completely. It depends. Have worked really hard with the gloves. Want to be the best I could, that’s always been my attitude,” he signed off.
