Abdul Qadir Likens Virat Kohli With Legendary Imran Khan

Former Pakistan leg-spinner Abdul Qadir has compared the captaincy of Indian skipper Virat Kohli with the legendary Pakistan captain Imran Khan. Qadir believes there are a lot of similarities between the captaincy styles of Virat Kohli and Imran Khan. In fact, India’s head coach Ravi Shastri had also likened Virat Kohli’s captaincy with Imran Khan.

Qadir believes Virat Kohli leads from the front. He sets up an example for the whole side and then pushes them to follow his footsteps. Kohli has concentrated his energy on his fitness and he has instilled the fitness regime in the complete Indian squad.

Kohli is leading with aplomb.

Kohli is the most consistent batsman in the world and his batting has improved since he has taken over the captaincy baton from MS Dhoni.

“If I look at Virat Kohli as a batsman and captain… I can say he is similar to Imran in the manner that he, like Imran, sets an example by doing something himself and then expects his team to do the same,” Qadir said on a TV show as quoted by PTI.

“I wouldn’t compare the two (Kohli, Khan) but, if I look at Kohli, he also has this ability to lead from the front,” Qadir, who has 236 Test wickets to his name, added.

Qadir feels Kohli takes the onus on his shoulders to guide his team over the finishing line. Kohli is doing a fine job in leading from the front and he has taken giant strides in his captaincy career.

“Kohli also (like Khan) takes responsibility and performs and forces the other players to perform,” Qadir said further.

“If I talk about Imran, the sort of personality he had and his ability to get performance out of his players… I don’t think Kohli is there as yet. But no doubt the Indian captain also leads by example,” he added.

Virat Kohli has led the team with aplomb and he would like to keep ticking the right boxes. Kohli is going to be instrumental in the success of the team in the forthcoming World Cup 2019.

On the other hand, Imran Khan is considered as one of best captains to have played the game and inspired his team to win the ICC World Cup 1992 despite his side was been the underdogs.
