Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on November 25 (Monday) announced a 15-member squad for the lone Test match against West Indies starting from November 27 (Wednesday). Hamza Hotak and Nijat Masood have been consistent performers in the limited-overs for the Afghans have made it into the squad and are in line to make their debut.

With Rashid Khan leading the pack, Afghanistan possess a good blend of young and experience in the squad. The presence of Asghar Afghan and Rahmat Shah will boost their batting while Rashid and Zakir Khan will take care of the spin department. However, they will miss the service of all-rounder Mohammad Nabi, who announced his retirement from the longer formats last month.

Afghanistan look to carry the winning momentum

Afghanistan, who began their Test campaign against India, made a resounding comeback beating Ireland and Bangladesh. The Bangladesh victory hogged them a lot of limelight as they bettered them in all the departments to win the match. Rashid Khan will want his side to put the best feet forward and keep the winning momentum going against Jason Holder-led West Indies.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan after going down in the ODIs made a thumping comeback in the shortest format of the game. They will hope to carry on the confidence and beat the Caribbeans in Lucknow’s Ekana International Stadium, the home ground of the Afghans. Although they lack in experience but this Afghan team has every capacity to surprise the West Indies side when the match begins.
