After making an enticing clean sweep over Bangladesh in the recently-held three-match Twenty20 International series at Dehradun, Afghanistan will be gearing up for their maiden Test match against India.

The One-off Test will be held at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium from 14th June. It is believed to be a historic moment for Afghanistan. They have improved by leaps and bounds in the last few years. The Afghan cricketers will reach Bengaluru on Saturday (June 9) to start their preparations for the iconic Test fixture.

Pertinently, the Afghan players were in India only. The Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Dehradun hosted the T20I series.

Bengaluru will offer a lot than what unfolded in the Doon Valley. The visitors’ players need to adjust pretty quickly. Moreover, the squad boasts about four top class spinners.

During an interview with Sportstar, Afghanistan coach Phil Simmons admitted he will take a call on the playing XI only after taking a look at the Bengaluru surface.

Meanwhile, the Indian players have already arrived at the NCA in Bengaluru. They have started their preparations for the much-awaited Test.

“We also have four seamers in the team. We are just preparing and we will decide (on the plan) when we reach Bengaluru. Once we see how they have prepared the wicket, we will decide whether to play four spinners or not,” Sportstar quoted Simmons.

With the team arriving in Bangalore five days before the eventual Test match, it is likely they will get acclimatised to the conditions.

Afghanistan fans to travel to Bengaluru:

It is being learnt that a big number of Afghanistan fans will travel from their country to Bengaluru for the match.

However, as per reports rain could be playing spoilsport in Afghanistan’s first Test. As per the forecasts by the Meteorological Centre in Bengaluru, there is a possibility of heavy showers and thunderstorm on the match days.
