After Sachin Tendulkar and MS Dhoni, Another Biopic On Indian Cricketer
In past, twelve months we have seen two biopics hitting the box-office and lives of two Indian cricketing legends came in front of us on a 70-mm screen. After Sachin Tendulkar and Mahendra Singh Dhoni, it is now officially declared that there is another biopic coming on Indian women cricketer.
Recently, Indian women’s cricket team had an emphatic World Cup, where they lost to the hosts in an exciting final. This run from Indian eves caught everyone’s attention and they were on headlines of every media house.
A Bengali movie director, Susanta Das confirmed he will be directing a biopic on world cricket’s most successful ODI bowler Jhulan Goswami. The tentative name for the biopic is expected to be Chakdaha Express and it will feature Jhulan’s journey from Nadia district to the epic final at Lord’s where the team fell just short to their first title win.
In an interview with PTI, the director said, he has yet to sign the actors but the shooting will take place from Chakdaha to the iconic Lord’s cricket ground.
“Shooting will be held from Chakdaha to Lord’s. I cannot tell you the names as they are yet to be signed. But we are in talks with leading Bollywood actresses.” said Das.
MS Dhoni’s biopic was a huge hit at the box office and so was Sachin’s but the director is confident that Jhulan’s journey will attract the audience and inspire young females to take up sports as a profession.
This will be the first biopic on women’s cricket and the director was very clear that this movie’s main focus will be her journey and the difficulties she overcame to reach where she is right now.
“We have seen MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar’s biopics. But this will be the first biopic on women’s cricket. We will send our crew to wherever Jhulan has played. The focus will be her journey, the odds she overcame since she was 10. Hope it will inspire and motivate millions of youngsters. It’s about chasing your dream.” Das said.
