India’s veteran batswoman Mithali Raj is forced to contemplate T20I retirement after her surprising ouster from the semifinal tie against England. Raj’s ouster from the crucial match has drawn flak throughout the country. Thus, Harmanpreet Kaur and the team management was criticised for their move.
In fact, Mithali Raj was in fine form. She had scored two fifties while playing against Pakistan and Ireland. However, she was dropped from the last group match against Australia. Since India had already qualified for the last four, dropping Raj against Australia wasn’t a big mistake. However, it was hard to understand why the veteran batter was overlooked for the imperative clash against England.

Mithali Raj had sleepless nights.
India’s skipper Harmanpreet Kaur said the team wanted to continue with the winning combination. She also claimed that she has no regrets for dropping India’s talisman player.

Meanwhile, it is reported by Mid-Day that Mithali Raj is contemplating T20I retirement after her ouster. It is also said the linchpin also spent sleepless nights after she was told that she would be dropped.

“She struggled to sleep peacefully throughout the tournament because there was a lot of uncertainty surrounding her place in the team. There was no clarity over her role in the team and her batting position. She was told about her omission from the semi-final after the warm-up session on match day,” the source told mid-day.
On the other hand, Mithali Raj had said that the ICC Women World T20 would be her swansong in the shortest version of the game.
Mithali Raj could have played a run-a-ball knock which would have come in handy for the Indian team. However, it wasn’t to be the case as Raj was dropped from the all-important match.
