Bangladesh celebrates a wicket.

The U19 World Cup finals lived up to the hype as both India and Bangladesh put in their efforts to sneak through a cliffhanger like situation. Rain did try to play spoilsport but the Tigers held their nerves to script a historic win. The Bangla colts won the game by 3 wickets (D/L). Let’s take a look at how the game panned out:

Earlier in the day, India colts were put in to bat first on a wicket that had something for the bowlers due to the moisture. Having lost the first wicket with mere nine runs on the board, in-form opener Yashasvi Jaiswal along with Tilak Verma forged a 94-run stand. Though, Verma failed to convert the good start into a big score, Yashasvi carried on the good work.

The southpaw hit yet another fifty but just when India looked set for a big score, Yashasvi perished for 88 in the 40th over. The score at the juncture read 156/4. The next quarter of an hour was no less than a nightmare for the boys in blue as they went on to lose seven wickets for 21 runs. The sudden collapse restricted the favorites to 177- a below par total.

Bowlers bowl Bangladesh to historic win

Avishek Das, who was picked for this summit clash, didn’t disappoint. He bagged figures of 3/40 and was the pick of the bowlers for the Tigers. The pressure of a cup final was surely there but the Bangladesh openers showed nerves of steel. Parvez Emon and Tanzid Hasan got the chasers to a solid start. The Indian bowlers conceded too many extras for their own liking but Bangladesh failed to snatch on to their chances. Ravi Bishnoi, who was picked by the Kings XI Punjab in the IPL auction, brought India back in the game quite dramatically but it just wasn’t enough to earn India the bragging rights.
