MS Dhoni has paid the ultimate tribute to Chennai Super Kings ahead of the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The former India skipper has been with the franchise since the inaugural season of the league in 2008 and is still showing absolutely no signs of stopping.
During his illustrious journey with Chennai Super Kings, he has led the franchise to three titles. In the last two seasons, he led them to the title in 2018 and a runners-up finish in 2019. The three-time winners are favourites to go all the way once again and MS Dhoni would be keen to make the Super Kings just the second team to win the title four times.
And ahead of the start of the season, MS Dhoni has credited his franchise for making him a better player and helping him tackle some difficult situations both on and off the field. Earlier this week, he landed in Chennai to prepare for the tournament and received a rousing reception at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
“…CSK has helped me improve in everything, whether it was being a human being or being a cricketer, handling situations that are tough both in and out of the field and how to be humble once you are doing well,” Dhoni was quoted as saying on a show for the official broadcasting channel.

The Super Kings fans fondly call him ‘Thala’, and the 38-year-old said the love and respect he has got from them is special.
“‘Thala’ basically means brother, so for me it’s more the abstract of the fans, the love and affection towards me is the reflection of that,” he said.
“Whenever I am in Chennai or down South they never call me by my name, they address me as ‘Thala’ and the moment someone calls me ‘Thala’ they are showing their love and respect but at the same time he is a CSK fan,” he added.
