Team India skipper Virat Kohli is trying to make every possible adjustment ahead of the much-awaited tour of England. He is slated to play county cricket for Surrey in the month of June.

If needed the 29-year-old will also take part in an India A side during their clash against the England Lions. It will be a four-day Test and might prove beneficial for Kohli ahead of the tour.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on the condition of anonymity said to PTI, English weather might play spoilsport. On the other hand, Virat aims high to prepare for the tour.

Being cited as one of the main reasons that’s why the Indian skipper doesn’t want to leave any of the stone unturned. The England tour is expected to be a stern test for Kohli both as a batsman and as a skipper.

When BCCI announced the squad for the two Twenty20 International against Ireland, no one would have expected Kohli’s name to creep up. The multiple dates of the shortest version of the game will clash with Kohli’s last encounter with Surrey.

However, the BCCI official said that Kohli can afford to miss the county match for the national assignment. However, Surrey confirmed on Friday (May 10) that Virat will miss the first match against Ireland – to take part in the final county game.

“The situation is pretty fluid right now. There is an arrangement with Surrey which allows Virat to honour his national commitment. So if he gets sufficient match time in the first two games, we might see him skipping the Yorkshire match and play both T20Is. But then there is no guarantee of English weather,” said the BCCI official.

BCCI aware that too much practice might lead to fatigue:

We will miss the presence of Virat Kohli in our maiden Test against India, says Afghanistan Cricket Board CEO.

However, Indian board is well aware of the fact that too much practice ahead of the tour might take a toll on Virat’s body.

Well, BCCI might request England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to shift India A clash against England Lions.

India A is slated to face the England Lions on 16th July as per the current schedule. The third and the final ODI between India and Lions will take place on the very next day.

Moreover, BCCI might also request ECB to postpone the India A game. The BCCI official stated that Virat will take part in the three-match ODI series at first.

Virat Kohli will feature in the county games.  The rest of the decision will be taken according to the situation, according the official.

“All we can say at the moment is Virat is playing the three Royal London Cup matches followed by two county games till June 23. Post that, any decision that will be taken will depend on the situation that he will be in,” an official maintained.
