Miseries continued to haunt Pakistan and it was just a few months ago that Pakistan opener Ahmed Shehzad was dropped from the national side after failing a drug test. He was not able to play a Test for his country and was finally replaced by southpaw Imam-ul-Haq.
Opening batsman Shehzad has been a very stylish player over the years but the consistency hasn’t been there.
Many believed that Shehzad would challenge the ban. However, he decided not to and it was clear that he was at fault and had tested positive for some banned substance.
Many are of the opinion that Shehzad might get a short-term ban time for pleading guilty to the charges which have been laid against him.
Reports in several Pakistan dailies goes on to suggest that Shehzad hasn’t challenged the sanction. He has requested the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) not to test the B sample. He also went on to submit his charges which expired on 19th June.

The committee summoned Shehzad and only time will tell that how much fine is levied on him under the guidelines of the World-Anti Doping Agency (WADA).
Moreover, reports from several quarters have claimed that the PCB is planning to lay down a charge sheet. The opener had earlier failed drug tests during a league cricket match in Faisalabad.
It will be difficult for Ahmed Shehzad to break into the squad again:
Unfortunately, Shehzad’s record isn’t that great. He played his last One-day International in 2017 against Sri Lanka. The opener has so far scored 2,605 runs in 81 ODI’s at an average of 32.56.
It will be very difficult for Shehzad to break into the playing XI especially given the fact that the current opening pair of Fakhar Zaman and Imam-ul-Haq set up things quite brilliantly for the Men in Green.
On Friday (July 20) Imam alongside Fakhar registered the highest opening partnership in ODI history. They shared a mammoth 304 runs stand for the opening wicket going past the previous record of 286 held by Sanath Jayasuriya and Upul Tharanga against England in 2006 at Headingley.
