However, Rahane will not be playing the tournament. He was with the team during Test series too and need some time to take rest. He might play the upcoming Deodhar Trophy and Irani Cup too.

Indian team’s next series is in Sri Lanka, which is a T20I competition.

Since he is not the part of the T20I side, Rahane will be available for Nidahas Trophy. It will also give him time to practice ahead of India Premier League.

Talking of Rohit, the other awardee, he might be rested for the Sri Lanka series. However, merely if the selectors decide to give another player a chance.

Meanwhile, Pravin Amre, the former Indian cricketer turned coach, was also awarded during the function. He was awarded the coach of the year award (2016-17).

Amre received a trophy, certificate and cash prize of Rs 1 Lakh. Players from other sports were also honoured during the event since the 2014-15 season.
