India’s Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane trains well and hard in the nets ahead of England Tests, which begins on August 1.

Team India started off their tour to England grandly, as they defeated the home team by a 2-1 margin in the three-match T20I series. They were thoroughly professional in all three departments of the game which saw them registering two comprehensive victories.

The men in blue suffered a hiccup in the 2nd encounter. However, that was more of an aberration, as they stormed back strongly in the final and T20I at Bristol. Deepak Chahar made his international debut in the Sunday game and was lucky to bag his maiden wicket as well.

Team India played some fantastic cricket which ensured they won the series with disdain. The T20I series will be followed by the three-match ODI series starting from 12th July. Ajinkya Rahane who has been a consistent performer for India in the overseas conditions didn’t get picked for the limited-overs series against England.

Rahane hasn’t performed to his potential in the last few months which led to his ouster. He played quite well across formats when India toured England in 2014 and hence it was a surprise to see him not even in the squad.

Despite his omission from the limited-overs squad, Rahane will be one of the most important batsmen for India in the five-match Test series.

Rahane was brilliant in India’s previous tour of England

He smashed a sensational century on a green seaming wicket at Lord’s and played an instrumental role in helping India win the match quite comprehensively in the end. Rahane has an uncanny knack of scoring tons of runs in overseas conditions. He likes the pace and swing in England and will look to revive his lost touch in the Tests.

Ahead of the tour, Rahane has been practising at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. He has been sweating out quite profusely and is hoping to put up a dominant performance in the Test series. He shared a couple of pictures of himself with a caption,

“A good practice session at the MCA ahead of my departure to England for test series. Can’t wait to get there.”
