As expected, India thrashed Bangladesh in the first Test to take an unassailable lead in the two-match series. The hosts dismantled the tourists by an innings and 130 runs to go 1-0 in the series. India bowled out Bangladesh for just 213 in the second innings to wrap up the game inside three days in Indore. The Virat Kohli-led side took command of the match right from day one despite losing the toss.

The home side bowled out the tourists for just 150 to put itself on the driver’s seat. In reply, they declared their innings after posting a mammoth total of 493 for 6. Mayank Agarwal starred with the bat, scoring 243 while Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and Ravindra Jadeja scored fifties. Bangladesh’s fortunes did not change in the second innings either.

Riding on Mushfiqur Rahim’s fifty, they did show some resistance in the middle but it did not make much of a difference as they were all out for just 213. Both the teams will now move to Kolkata for the second and final Test. All eyes are now on the upcoming second Test at the Eden Gardens. The game will start the journey of both the countries in day-night Tests.

Ajinkya Rahane excited:

There is absolutely no denying the fact that there is excitement all around as far as the upcoming Test is concerned. The cricket-obsessed nation is going to witness a Test to be played with a pink ball under the floodlights for the first time. But perhaps no one is as excited as India’s Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and his latest tweet pretty much sums it up.

The right-handed batsman took to Twitter to post a hilarious snap of himself sleeping with a pink ball beside him with the caption: “Already dreaming about the historic pink ball test ?”

The day-night Test, meanwhile, will get underway on November 22.
