The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) appoints Ajit Singh Shekhawat as the Chief of its Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU). Earlier, the post was occupied by former Delhi commissioner Neeraj Kumar.
Neeraj Kumar was responsible for N Srinivasan stepping down as the Board Chief as well as prosecution of players such as S Sreesanth, Ajit Chandila and Ankit Chavan. The Rajasthan Royals trio were involved in spot-fixing and betting rings.

“Yes, the BCCI has finalized Mr Ajit Singh’s name as the new ACU chief. He has been a decorated officer with the speciality in dealing with anti-corruption activities. He fits BCCI’s bill perfectly,” said BCCI official as reported by PTI.
Ajit Singh completed his graduation from St. Stephens College, Delhi. He was part of the IPS Batch of 1982 and a former prison DG in Jaipur.
IPL 11- first assignment for Shekhawat
BCCI suggested that as many as 15 members will be working under Shekhawat who will oversee corruption activities of all tournaments that come under the Indian cricket board.

“Considering the number of matches that BCCI holds every year under its aegis which is more than 1500 (all age-groups, senior tournaments, IPL). To perform his duties efficiently, Singh would require at least a 15-member team (permanent staff). Just having temporary ACU officials. Like it is done in first-class games won’t be of any help,” continued the BCCI official.
