Amit Mishra, the former Indian leg-spinner, has quite literally been the unsung hero of the Indian Premier League. The vile leg-spinner, who made his India debut back in 2008, has played for franchises like Deccan Chargers, Pune Warriors India, Sunrisers Hyderabad and the Delhi Capitals, featuring in every single season of the cash-rich league.
Mishra is the only bowler to claim three hat-tricks in the IPL and is also the second-highest wicket-taker in the history of the competition. The leg-spinner recently participated in an Instagram Live session with his current IPL franchise Delhi Capitals.

The IPL has got tougher with every passing season: Amit Mishra
During the conversation, the vile leg-spinner hailed the IPL for being a breeding ground for young precocious talents to display their skills in front of the whole world. Mishra reckons that India has got a plethora of talented cricketers through the IPL; a tournament, he feels, has only got tougher with every passing year, especially for the spinners.
“IPL has kept on getting difficult with each passing season, especially it has been difficult for the spinners, I have played the tournament for 12 years now, this would have been my 13th, India has gotten a lot of talent through this tournament, many young players also got financial help through this competition.” Amit Mishra said.
He added: “When I played IPL for the first time in 2008, the batsmen had limited shots, but now the batsmen have many more things in their arsenal, they are more powerful, players now have more shots as well,”
Mishra would have been plying his trade for the Delhi Capitals in the 13th edition of the IPL but the onslaught of COVID-19 has proceeded to put the tournament on the back burner.
When asked about his views on holding the IPL behind closed doors, Amit Mishra reckoned that we should wait until things start to get normal.
“Things regarding coronavirus need to get normal first, we should give two-three months and then take a call on playing the tournament. Playing cricket is necessary but we should give some time to coronavirus, hopefully, things will settle down by then.” he added.
Talking about Mishra’s IPL numbers, the leg-spinner has claimed 157 wickets in 147 games at an average of 24.19.
