Andre Russell Cleared Off Any Serious Injury After Copping A Blow On The Helmet

West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell copped up a blow during the Caribbean Premier League 2019 game after he was hit on the helmet. Russell had to leave the field in the stretcher giving hints of serious injury. However, scan later revealed that he has no serious injury.
Russell, playing for Jamaica Tallawahs, was struck by a short ball from St Lucia Zouks’ Hardus Viljoen in the 14th over of the game. Facing his third ball of the day and yet to open his account, Russell was cramped for space and missed a pull shot.

The medical team immediately rushed to the middle to check his whereabouts. Although he looked groggy but was able to stand. However, he stopped after walking a few steps and had to leave the field in a stretcher.

Officials later revealed that Russell had been taken to the hospital for a scan. And once given the all clear, he went back to the team hotel to rest and recover. His availability for Saturday’s game against Trinbago Knight Riders is as yet unclear.
“Under the doctor’s advice he has headed back to the team hotel with his wife and a member of the Tallahwahs medical team to rest and recover,” CPL said n Twitter.

Speaking about the game, it was a high-scoring encounter. Jamaica Tallahwahs posted 170 runs from their 20 overs banking on Rovman Powell and Glenn Phillips. St Lucia Zouks made the chase look easy with Rahkeem Cornwall taking the attack early on.

The opening pair added 11 runs in just 8.4 overs. Cornwall got out scoring 75 runs off just 30 balls but Andrew Fletcher ensured that he bat till the end and take his side home with 20 balls to spare.
