The onset and the proliferation of the global pandemic that is the coronavirus has caused havoc on the entire world. Around 2,76,000 people have already succumbed to the deadly disease while more than four million people have been infected by the contagion that emerged from the Wuhan city of China late last year.
The entire world has been locked up in order to avert the proliferation of the disease and with the vaccine some time away and more and more people dying every day, hopelessness has begun to set-in among the masses.
Legendary Indian leg-spinner and former captain Anil Kumble recently shared a motivational video with his fans where he compared the fight against the deadly contagion to the second innings of a Test match where one can’t afford to let his/her guard down.
“If we have to fight this coronavirus pandemic, we need to be in this together. It’s like a Test match. Cricket Test matches are of five days but this has been longer,” Anil Kumble said in a video posted on his Twitter account.

We have to push for an outright win- Anil Kumble
“Cricket Test matches are only two innings each, but this can be even more. So don’t be complacent that we had a slender lead in the first innings because the second innings can be really rough.” Kumble added.
The former Indian leg-spinner and the highest wicket-taker in the country’s Test cricket history further said that this battle courtesy cannot be won on the basis of initial success and we need to go for an outright victory.
“We have to win this battle, it cannot be won just by a first-innings lead, we need to win this battle by registering an outright victory,” he added.
Meanwhile, India is currently under the third phase of its lockdown, and Kumble’s video comes at a time when there is a surge in the daily cases.
