Even many experts suggested that he can be the solution to no.4 conundrum considering his exceptional evolution as a player in the last couple of years. Previously, the 24-year-old vented out his frustration for not getting enough chances at the big stage. Shreyas Iyer grabbed the opportunity in both hands in the series against Bangladesh and was also the pick of the batsmen against Bangladesh in the T20I decider.

Meanwhile, former Indian coach Anil Kumble wants Shreyas Iyer to bat at No.4 in ODIs. “With Shikhar (Dhawan) not being there, it again gives KL Rahul chance to open the batting. We have seen Shreyas lyer’s quality and he has grown in stature, so I would like him to be at number four,” Anil Kumble told the official broadcast channel as per TOI.
India won the T20I series against West Indies by 2-1. The first of the three-match ODI series is scheduled to play at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai on December 15 (Sunday).three-match ODI rubber will start in Chennai.
